• Vision screening for visual acuity, peripheral and color vision
• Review of history, including occupational and general medical
• Physical examination
• Additional components, such as audiograms, as requested by the client
• PPME's are performed by Dr. John Schumpert, a residency trained, board certified occupational and environmental medicine physician.
• Typically performed within 72 hours of the request
• Results can be promptly faxed to the authorized personnel officer, and will be followed by an original written confirmation of the findings.
• Schedule a PPME by calling REOH at 549-6520.

Result categories for Pre-placement Examinations include:
• Medically recommended for position
• Medical recommendation reserved pending additional medical information • Medically recommended with limitations as noted

Fitness-for-duty Examinations
FFDs can help assess a worker's health status in relation to his/her ability to perform essential functions of the job. The decision to have an evaluation performed is generally determined by company policy. The purpose of the FFD (see below) should be provided to REOH by the personnel contact prior to the evaluation. A dictated report will be provided following the evaluation.

Fitness-for-duty evaluations may be requested to:
• Determine the appropriateness of a return to work following either non-work-related or work-related injury or illness
• Determine if workplace modifications are required before return to work
• Provide employer with data on worker's current health status, along with factors involved in a successful return to work

Special issues may also be evaluated, including:
• Absenteeism
• Possible substance abuse (drugs or alcohol)
• Psychological problems
